When we work to teach youth about better and expose them to better, then we can inspire them to DO better and BE better.

COACH WINK'S MISSION
Coach Wink’s NJTL is a collaboration of grassroots tennis, educational, and mentoring opportunities that will encourage and inspire youth to experience and enjoy the positive benefits of tennis development, scholastic achievement, healthy life choices and good citizenship. In Coach Wink’s NJTL, youth will learn to set realistic, achievable and sustainable goals based upon their interests, exposure and abilities.
" Supporting a child’s participation in Coach Wink’s NJTL is an investment in that child’s future. The goal of this investment is not media headlines, Grand Slam titles, or financial gain. Rather, the primary goal is the development of a highly motivated, well-rounded child who has the desire and self-discipline necessary to do his or her best in academics and in tennis. Coach Wink’s NJTL’s ultimate hope is that student athletes will become productive citizens and leaders in their schools and communities."
--William "Coach Wink" Fulton, Jr.
WHAT IS NJTL?

“One important key to success is self-confidence. An important key to self-confidence is preparation.”
- Arthur Ashe

The United States Tennis Association’s NJTL is a national network of community based tennis organizations that work to shape the character of youth through tennis and education. Founded in 1969 by Arthur Ashe along with Charlie Pasarell, and Sheridan Snyder, the goal of NJTL programming is to instill in youth the importance of academic excellence and leadership while giving them the opportunity to fully develop their tennis skills. NJTL programming is made affordable and accessible for youth so that they can enjoy the lifetime benefits of the sport.
The greatest disservice to our youth lies in not imparting the skills we have acquired along the way, for the grave has no use for them.

COACH WINK'S G.A.M.E

The Gibson-Ashe-McLoyd-Experience is designed to utilize the various life, educational and competitive experiences of Althea Gibson, Arthur Ashe, and Stephanie McLoyd to promote respect for learning and fair play while motivating and challenging youth to compete like champions in tennis and life. The G.A.M.E. aims to develop student athletes who are well prepared for both life and sport. We agree with Arthur Ashe that tennis can be used “as a way to gain and hold the attention of young people so that we can teach them about matters more important than tennis,” and that “through tennis, lives can be changed and spirits reclaimed.”
